A Little Something: Row Lettering

Take a look at the "row lettering" the next time you're at the theater. If you look attentively, you'll discover that many theaters lack Rows I and O.  Rows are always H to J and N to P.

According to Jimmy Godsey, the Public Theater's Director of Ticketing Services, who was quoted by a Public Theater spokesperson, simply, "the letter "I" looks like a number one to ushers and box office". Some theatres have

omitted other rows as well (O and Q can get confused).

Godsey also pointed out that it isn't just seat number one in each row that could create confusion. There are lots more ones than you think, since the numbers in the center section of many theatres are in the 100s — 101, 102, etc.

Who knew so much thought goes into little details like these.
